What order should Heather Huffman books be read in? Good question. I'm not sure there is a perfect answer to that one. Each was written to stand alone, so they can be read in any order without hampering your enjoyment of them. Each of them ties to all of the others in some form or fashion, too. Some are suspenseful, some are light. I like to think all are warm and funny, even if they're tackling tough topics. It's hard to neatly categorize or define them. That said, I've tried to group books together that are most closely related to make it easier to pick what to read next.

And if I absolutely had to pick an answer, I would say: Throwaway, Jailbird, Suddenly a Spy, Ties that Bind, Ring of Fire, Tumbleweed, Devil in Disguise, Roses in Ecuador, Fool's Game, Waiting for You, Vance Davis Dossier, and Finding Broken Arrow.

The newest release and oddball of the group is My Own Ever After, my personal memoir detailing the last seven years of my life--a time of tumult following my son's accident, and a time of growing into the woman I was meant to be.
All of my books are available to read for free on Kindle Unlimited.

March 31, 2011, my family's world was forever changed when my middle son was in a horseback riding accident that left him in a coma for five days and set him on a journey that would require him to relearn everything. That fateful day changed the trajectory of all our lives in ways we could never have imagined.

Now, seven years later, I look back on our story of miracles and hardship, of things lost and found, of coming home.

Transparent, honest, real. Heather is a real woman. A woman with a real life of loves, losses, a broken heart, and a heart on the mend. She not only has her share of hard times, but even through a bout with depression, she trusted, had faith, and looked for the good in life. She wrestled, struggled, and is continuing to move ahead in life.~Amazon Reviewer

Unlikely Heroes and Heroines

If you're looking for Vance's backstory, read this line of books. He doesn't show up until Throwaway, but the series isn't complete without Jailbird - which also happens to be one of my personal favorites. (Shhh, don't tell the others...)

The McAlisters

Devon McAlister first shows up in Suddenly A Spy. I knew right away he would get his own book someday; I just didn't realize his family would play such a dominant part in the world I was weaving. I adore these siblings; each of their stories is as unique as they are!

A Piece of Me

There is a piece of me in each of the books I've written - a shared experience, fear, or dream. But with these three, it goes a little deeper. Ties That Bind is very much me grappling with my own sense of self worth not being tied up in another's opinion. Tumbleweed is me learning to fight for my dream of returning to my Ozarks roots - or any dream worth having, really. Fool's Game was the first book I finished, written at 17 and polished by an editor for publication more than a decade later. It amuses me to read it now because I can see my younger self in it. She was a feisty one.
